5 Easy Ways to Switch Up Your Style in 2014

Since January is the first month of the year and people are usually tired of trying to stick to their new year resolutions by now I figured I would do a couple blog posts to get people back in the right mindset. This post is for people who are looking to switch things up and come up with ways to reinvent their closet and have a new look without breaking the bank.

1. Tired of the long hair don’t care days? Cut it off and don’t look back.

I live for the short curly bob look right now. It is a very girly but easy to manage style that has the potential to last a long time between touch ups. If you are already good at styling hair but not comfortable with scissors you can always go to a local salon or a Supercuts salon in your area to have someone just do the haircut for you. Then you can go home and style it however you want. This saves a ton of money because a haircut normally only costs $15 or less. Peep the pictures below.

2. Bored with black or brown hair? Experiment with other colors.

There are so many different hair colors out there. Why just settle for only two? If you are not comfortable coloring your own hair, find a cosmetologist who specializes in hair color. Normally a professional will have a book that they can show you with color wheels and different color ideas in it. The key is not to be afraid to step out there and try new colors. Look on Pinterest or google images for inspiration. You never know. You just might like pink hair.

3. Tired of wearing jeans? Explore printed pants, leggings, or trousers.

There are so many different designs and patterns in the world & wearing printed pants can really bring out an outfit. They can be dressed up with a collared shirt, off shoulder tee, or blazer with heels. They can be dressed down with a printed tee or tank top with sandals or flats. Peep below pics of printed pants that are below $50.

4. Over wearing red lipstick every day? Try different shades of lipstick.

Red lipstick is very sexy and can really make your nighttime makeup looks pop. If you are bored with this look there are some other shades to try such as a more orange lipstick color such as Milani in the color Sweet Nectar. This lipstick smells awesome and it’s very smooth and shiny on the lips. I apply this lipstick over a brown lip liner after I have concealed my mouth then I apply another layer with a lip brush. You can find this lipstick in drugstores like Target or Walmart for under $10. Peep some pics below of different lipstick shades other than red.

5. Tired of matching those blue shoes with a blue jacket? Wear a bolder color/print.

Matching every outfit together perfectly can get boring easily. Next time you go shopping pick out a color in a jacket or purse that you normally don’t wear.  Experiment with a springy color like lavender or aqua. Then pair it with a denim shirt and some printed pants to make it stand out more. If you normally wear a tan handbag pick out a beige, white, or multicolor handbag to wear. If you normally wear white colors try putting the white together with tan, turquoise, or neon. The key is to set your outfits apart instead of the colors in the outfit running together and looking bland. Keep your closet hot and trendy this season.

Have fun with it throw it together and switch things up!
