How to Moisturize in the Winter

Hi! This week I am diving deep in the world of skincare and discussing what products I use to moisturize my face, body, hair, and lips in the winter! This has been a tough winter in Texas dealing with the freezing temps recently and although my electric bill has suffered, my skin has not. Take a look below at what products I use and what makes them so great.

Face

If you have an extremely dry face then moisturizing at night with thick creams will be an essential routine during the wintertime. Cerave Skin Renewing Night Cream is perfect because it contains hyaluronic acid, shea butter, and ceramides which are ingredients that are known for protecting and locking the moisture in your skin.

After I exfoliate with salicylic acid then I rub this cream on my face. This tiny jar doesn’t last long but it does such an amazing job of keeping those dry patches away that I just continue to repurchase it.

This overnight mask by Clinique is a holy grail beauty product for me and I enjoy slathering it all over my face every night. A little goes a long way so despite using it every night this 3.4 ounce tube has lasted for almost a year. This product penetrates well and is great for waking up to a smooth hydrated dewy complexion.

Body

I started using body creams exclusively in the last year and noticed a considerable difference in my skin. I use both of these body cremes simultaneously and together they get the job done!

Cerave Moisturizing Creme is a thick creme with ceramides and hyaluronic acid. It is also fragrance free if you have sensitive skin. Ceramides are an essential ingredient to use in skincare products because it make your skin barrier strong and reduces the loss of moisture.

Eucerin Intensive Repair Creme is a lighter creme but still very effective and contains alpha hydroxy acid and shea butter. Alpha hydroxy acid is an exfoliant that prevents dull, flaky and rough skin. When I use these creams twice a day my skin feels soft and firm. Shea butter is an ingredient that is good for moisture retention, anti-aging, and treating wounds and skin allergies.

Hair

This hair butter by Carol’s Daughter is one of their most popular products and has been sold for over 20 years. I purchased this lightweight hair product around 3 months ago and so far it works really well.

It contains 7 different oils including jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, and cocoa butter. I use it in the morning about 2-3 times a week on the ends of my hair whenever it looks dry and needs to be revived. I love that this product doesn’t make my hair look heavy and greasy after you apply it.

Lips

This Aquaphor lip product keeps the lips buttery smooth and doesn’t feel sticky. My lips are very sensitive so a lot of lip products dry out my lips more and cause irritation.

This product doesn’t have any preservatives, parabens, or fragrance so I can use it a twice a day without irritation. I keep a tube in my cosmetic bag and another in the bathroom so I always have it with me.

Bonus: Neutrogena Norweigan Hand Cream

This popular hand cream is a thick gel that penetrates very well and gets the job done so I highly recommend it for the wintertime. Whenever it goes on sale on Target I like to stock up on 2 or 3 of these!
