Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe new year’s eve. Before I get into what I really want to talk about, let me just say this holiday was amazing. I am so blessed and thankful to be able to travel and spend time with my family and actually take time off to enjoy myself. I’m so sad that I have to return to the regularly scheduled workday tomorrow but I’m ready to focus and work towards my new goals for 2017.
If you read my previous blog posts about skincare then you know how serious I am about tackling this dry skin issue that I have. You can view a previous skincare post here. Over the summer I was switching things up, buying new products, and it was a tough time because my face broke out and I had all kinds of acne on my cheeks and nose. After doing some simplifying I finally got it right and the dark spots have almost faded completely and my face feels quite hydrated despite the cold temperatures. So what products have I been using you ask? I’ll start with the cleansers.
Josie Maran Argan Cleansing Oil
I have talked about this cleansing oil before in at least two previous blog posts (you can read one of them here) and I still cannot stop talking it. This cleanser works extremely well and it lasts for over 6 months! I just repurchased another bottle from Sephora but I am still using the old bottle that I had since June. A little really goes a long way and it works very well for dry skin and doesn’t cause breakouts. What I do is put two pumps of the cleanser in my hands and rub it on my face. Then I massage my face with the cleansing brush that I’m going to discuss next.
ProX by Olay Advanced Cleansing Brush
I use the cleansing brush daily with the cleansing oil and it did take a few weeks to used to a cleansing brush. At first it seemed time consuming and ineffective but I really wanted to give it a chance. Now it’s been over two months and I am reaping the benefits and I enjoy massaging my face with it. This brush has two rotating speeds (I use the fastest speed) and is water resistant. I recently ordered a refill of the cleansing brushes so obviously I’m willing to stick with it and I may do an updated review in the future.
St. Ives Apricot Fresh Skin Scrub
I used this scrub years ago and I missed it so much that I went out and purchased it again. This scrub is the best deep exfoliator for my face in my opinion and it is worth every penny considering it is under $10. There’s a reason why celebrities like Gigi Hadid still swear by this product. It truly works if you use it consistently. My downfall is I don’t use it consistently like I’m supposed to but I’m trying to improve in 2017. The scrub uses natural ingredients apricot and walnut shell powder to help get rid of acne and dry patches on the face. Even though the scrub is very gritty and rough on the face it doesn’t make my skin feel irritated.
Molivera Organics Argan Oil
So in previous blog posts I raved about how good argan oil is. It truly is the best day and night moisturizer for my face. The issue in the past was the cost and I had to stop using it until I found a cheaper alternative. Well I finally did! I tried the brand Molivera Organics and they sell their products on amazon. I did research on their argan oil (which sells for $12 on Amazon! Wow!) and decided it was worth it to try it out. I’m so glad I did because it seems like it is the real deal at a cheaper price tag without sacrificing quality. It states on the amazon site that the argan oil is organic, cold pressed, vegan, chemical free, triple extra virgin and imported from morocco.
Recently I made the switch from regular face masks to sheet masks and I am really enjoying the change. The first thing I like is the fact that sheet masks are easier and take less time to apply. When I’m applying a regular face mask I use a brush to apply the product all over my face which takes a little bit longer. When I’m using a sheet mask I just put it on my face, wait 20 minutes then take it off. After using my face feels really soft and dewey then I just apply a little bit of argan oil to add more moisture before bed.
So tell me is anyone using these products in their beauty routine? What products do you like? Please feel free to comment below.
