5 Style Myths

Hey there! Welcome to CieraNicholle’s Style Firm. Today I am writing about 5 style myths and why people think they cannot have a great sense of style and what holds people back. I’m sure that you have either said one of these before or you have heard someone else give these excuses as to why they can’t have great personal style. Well today I am giving you some quick tips to squash these myths for good and be on your way to having an amazing sense of style in 2018!

Myth #1: “Girl it costs way too much to have a great sense of style.”

Nope that is not true. You do not need a lot of clothes, shoes, an accessories. You just need a few items that look very flattering on you and fit your body type well.

If you have a very small budget and want to buy some new clothes then head on over to your local consignment shop and afterwards hit up a few thrift stores.

This is one of my favorite things to do on a Friday evening or Saturday afternoon and I’m always excited when I find an amazing piece that fits perfectly in my wardrobe.

This men’s blazer from Zara was actually a thrift store find for under $5!

Myth #2: “Having a great sense of style is something that you are just born with.”

Says who?? That doesn’t make sense. No one is just born with a great sense of style. You can have a great sense of style just by knowing what you like to wear and what flatters your body type the most.

If you think you don’t know what you like just simply walk in your closet and look at what’s trending in there first. Take notes on what you see the most of in your closet.

Next time you go shopping, consider trying something different. It could be a color you don’t wear often or a different texture than what your used to. You never know – it could be the one item that expands your style palette!

Myth #3: “It takes way too much time to have a great sense of style.”

Let’s face it we are all very busy especially during the week and there is not a lot of time to do outfit planning. All you need is a little bit of time to find some inspiration and put together a capsule wardrobe.

I would recommend going on Pinterest for this so that you can just add the outfits that you love to a board. You can even shop on Pinterest so this will save you a ton of time. I will go deeper into finding fashion inspiration on a future post 🙂

Some of my favorite sweaters that I have been wearing nonstop this season.

Myth #4: “None of that stuff would look good on me.”

How do you know that just by looking at it? Try it on!! Yes that’s right try on new trends and styles that you are not used to. Technically there is no right or wrong answer when it comes to fashion.

It’s about what YOU think about what you wear. Trying on everything gives you perspective. If it doesn’t look fabulous on you then you know specifically the reasons why (fit, color, texture, etc).

Myth #5: “Everything that I buy has to be from a high end luxury designer.”

Don’t buy into all of this Instagram hype. When you go on social media you see a lot of people wearing an outfit that is entirely from a luxury designer like Celine or Gucci. Although I love the Gucci Gang and it looks very stylish, it is not necessary nor realistic for most people. There are plenty of designers out there that sell clothing that’s not only affordable but looks equally as good as luxury designers.
