MCM and The Handmaid’s Tale

Hey you! I hope you are having an incredible month and enjoying some marvelous sunny weather! Today’s outfit definitely puts me in a summer mood! This look is a peach and nude vibe that I absolutely adore. I had this peach colored blouse forever and it’s funny because at one point I gained so much weight it was too tight in the arms and stomach area lol! Now that I am working out and eating super healthy it fits perfectly thank God lol.

If you have been reading my blog for a while then you know just how much I love and appreciate denim so I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t pair the blouse with a pair of frayed hem shorts. The beautiful nude heels are from Target, my home away from home 🙂

I also wanted to share one of my fav summer totes with you in case you are in the market for something other than the ever so popular Fendi monogram look that I keep seeing on instagram repeatedly. This coated canvas tote is from the brand MCM which has been around forever but it seems like it is just now gaining popularity in the last couple years. I ordered this beautiful reversible shopper tote pre-loved from Poshmark around the holidays and got an amazing deal on it! MCM actually opened up a store in the mall close by me so maybe I’ll get another one brand new from the store one day 🙂 You can shop this tote and some other MCM bags here:

Have you been watching The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu? If you haven’t then seriously what are you doing?? This show has really been a game changer for me as I am always on the edge of my seat and sweating bullets because the storyline is so dark and compelling. No other show exists like this one!

In case you have never heard of it (season 2 premiered on 4/25) this is about a modern dictatorship that is set in the future in a world called Gilead. I will leave out spoilers in this post in case you want to see it because I highly recommend that you do! The storyline is centered around women oppression and stars the amazing Elizabeth Moss along with Samira Wiley, Alexis Bledel, Ann Dowd, and Yvonne Strahovski. I’m going to be honest it’s tough for me to really describe to you what this story is about in just a few words so take a look at what Google said:

“The Handmaid’s Tale is a dystopian novel by Canadian author Margaret Atwood, originally published in 1985. … The Handmaid’s Tale explores themes of women in subjugation to misogyny in a patriarchal society and the various means by which these women attempt to gain individualism and independence.”

Whew, thank you Google. That was a lot. I have experienced every possible emotion watching this show: sadness, sympathy, empathy, anger, shock, etc, etc. You might want to watch a comedy show afterwards because it will mess with your head a little. This show is not full of rainbows and sappy love songs. There is a lot of torture, rape, and flat out murder that goes on.

You have been warned.
